  • A local doctor in Jungutbatu will charge you $30 – $50 for a consultation. There is Puskesmas or Community Health Centre which is cheaper, how ever travel insurance is a must.

 

  • There should be no shortage of places offering snorkeling, surfing and island tour. Negotiate if you want a good price but sometimes not really working in high season.

 

  • To base your tipping structure to give the local people – the average wage is IDR 100,000  a day so have some IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000 notes to give them and the gauge is base on what they do for you and where you are.

  • The type of electricity is 220 volts, 50 cycles and a round, two-pronged slim plug. We suggest taking an adaptor for your appliance.

 

  • Once you arrive in Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport you can purchase a local prepaid card (Telkomsel, XL, Indosat) starting from around $15 – $20 for your mobile phone to contact around Bali and Text back to your country.

 

  • Everything seems to be more expensive than Bali mainland. That’s because all supplies was ship from Bali mainland via boat, this is cost more than by land.

 

  • Manners are very important to the Balinese people so be respectful and courteous towards their local customs and etiquette. below are a few tips:
    • Never just walk around in just shorts or bikinis when there’s ceremony in the Temple.
    • Never touch their heads with either hand as this is the most sacred part of the body to them.
    • Always use your right hand with the locals when doing anything as the use of the left hand they class this as being disrespectful, if you do accidentally use your left hand, apologise.
    • Watch your step, there are many offering in front of the door or even in the street.
